Joann E. Spartz, 72 of Sycamore died Thursday, April 19, 2012 at her home.

She was born March 15, 1940 in Rochelle. The daughter of Paul and Anna Mae (Mount) Bomleny. She married George Spartz on Jan. 27, 1962 in Sycamore.

Joann was a registered nurse at the Sycamore Hospital. She also worked for Anaconda Wire and Cable Co., General Electric and for Jay Elliott photography for many years. She was a life long resident of Sycamore and a graduate of the Sycamore High School, Class of 1958 and received her nursing degree from Rockford Memorial School of Nursing in 1961.

She served as a board member and past president of the Sycamore Pumpkin Fest and the Sycamore Little League. She was active in the Boy Scouts of America- Troop 40, the Sycamore Sports Boosters, Pony League, member of the Church of St. Mary, and was a Sycamore Township Trustee.

Joann is survived by her husband, George; two sons, Chris Spartz and Kevin (Teri) Spartz; two grandchildren, Alexa and Jarrett Spartz; one brother, Jim Bomleny; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Her Funeral Service will be on Monday, April 23rd at 11:00 AM at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, with Pastor Paul Endrei officiating. Burial will be private.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00-5:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home and from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Monday.
